DOWNERS GROVE – Another week, another shutout victory for Downers Grove North's football team.

After topping Lockport 45-0 in the season opener, the Trojans defeated Hinsdale South 28-0 at Carstens Field Friday night.

North quarterback David Edwards had touchdown runs of 1 and 4 yards to stake the home team to a 14-0 halftime lead. Early in the fourth quarter, Edwards connected with Vontae Diggs for a 36-yard touchdown strike before Charles Creamer capped the scoring with a 28-yard scoring jaunt with 6:22 left to play.

With the win, Downers Grove North improved to 2-0 ahead of Friday's West Suburban Silver showdown against defending Class 7A champ Glenbard West. The Trojans host the Hilltoppers at 7:30 p.m. at Carstens Field.

The Hornets (0-2) will host West Suburban Gold rival Willowbrook in their home opener at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
