Summer is quickly coming to an end and school is back in session.

In the coming months, you will begin to see some workforce development and education initiatives that our chamber is going to pursue. We want the highest caliber students exiting the education system and ready to enter the workforce.

As the voice of business here in Bolingbrook, we need to make sure that the available workforce locally can fill the job needs of our community. While we do compete on a global level these days for jobs, if we can show a competitive advantage, plus knowledge of the local market from a student, we can keep the jobs here.

Please stay tuned to our chamber for some upcoming initiatives.

On Thursday, Sept. 19, the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a luncheon featuring four state legislators who represent Bolingbrook.

State Rep. Natalie Manley, State Rep. Emily McAsey, State Sen. Pat McGuire and State Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant will be joining us as our guest speakers for the luncheon. They will be giving us a mid-year update on the State of Illinois, focusing mostly on legislation relevant to our business community.

The luncheon will be held at the DuPage Township Levy Center and registration begins at 11:30 a.m. Give us a call or register online if you would like to be a part of this event.

We have spent the year engaging you. If there is something more you’d like to see from us, please contact us. I am personally just surpassing my six-month anniversary with the BACC, and if there is something specific I can help you with, let me know.

I am here to be a center of influence and resource for you.

We can be reached by phone at 630-226-8420 or via email at info@bolingbrookchamber.org.

If you want to make sure you stay informed of upcoming events, as well as promotions and specials from local businesses, please text the word “Bolingbrook” to 22828.  Or, you can always stay up-to-date with our calendar of events on our website, bolingbrookchamber.org.
