Riverside police released a sketch of a man who tried to rob a woman near Ogden Avenue and Miller Road Aug. 22 in hopes of identifying the suspect.

RIVERSIDE – The Riverside Police Department released a sketch Wednesday of a man wanted for the attempted robbery of a woman at Ogden Avenue and Miller Road Aug. 22.

The woman had left her home and was walking on Miller Road at about 11:14 p.m. when a man described as white, between 20 and 30 years old, of thin build and partially bald, came out of a wooded area and grabbed the woman's purse. Police said the man punched the woman in the eye when she resisted, knocking her to the ground.

Police said the man then fled the area on foot, without taking anything from the woman.

Police Chief Tom Weitzel said the department released the sketch in hopes that someone might recognize the man.

Those with information are asked to call Detective Sgt. Frank Lara at 708-447-2127, or contact him by email at flara@riverside.il.us.
