Reboletti announces campaign for Senate

ELMHURST – State Representative and Elmhurst’s Dennis Reboletti announced Wednesday his candidacy for the Illinois Senate.

“I have taken on Speaker Madigan head to head and the Democratic Party head to head,” said Reboletti about his preparedness for the job.

The House Republican Floor Leader plans to trade in his seat as 45th District representative for the 24th District Senate seat. Sen. Kirk Dillard, who represents the 24th District, is campaigning for Illinois governor.

Dillard joined a dozen or so politicians, including his recently announced running mate 94th District representative Jil Tracy, to support Reboletti at the Diplomat West in Elmhurst when he made his announcement.

“When he comes in, there will be no training wheels needed for him,” Dillard said. “The Senate respects him.”

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin also supported Reboletti.

“He has been a fierce supporter of law enforcement in this county,” Berlin said.

Reboletti said he would continue his efforts to combat heroin in DuPage County as a senator.

He also thanked his father and supporters for joining him. He recalled his political beginnings 22 years ago when he didn’t know anyone in politics and credited his blue-collar upbringing for his success.

“I know these folks wouldn’t stand here with me unless I measured up to what the people of this county and the district would expect,” Reboletti said.

The 24th state Senate District is farther south and east than the 45th state House District, which Reboletti represents now. If elected to the Senate, Reboletti would represent Elmhurst, his hometown.

“The campaign begins today,” Reboletti said. “ I look forward to winning in March.”
