Lombard synagogue to host walk, run

LOMBARD – The local synagogue Congregation Etz Chaim, 1710 S. Highland Ave. in Lombard will hold its first High Holiday Hustle, a 5K run and walk, or a 1-mile family stroll. This event coincides with the the high holidays of the Jewish faith, which begin with Rosh Hashanah, celebrated at sundown Wednesday, and end with Yom Kippur, which is celebrated beginning at sundown Sept. 13.

The walk and run event will begin at 9 a.m. at Congregation Etz Chaim, and more than 200 people are expected to attend.

Pre-registration is $30 per person, or $35 the day of the event. Families of four can pay the special rate of $100. All proceeds benefit the Robert Scott Samuels Memorial Scholarship Fund, which helps send children to summer camp.
