WEST CHICAGO – Alex Novak of West Chicago was named the honorary captain of St. Francis High School's sophomore football team as they opened their season Aug. 30 in Wheaton. Novak, 15, had his own high school football dreams cut short a year ago when he was hit by a van while riding his bicycle, leaving him a quadriplegic just days before he was to play in his first St. Francis game.
