The Glendale Heights Police Department is working with several other law enforcement agencies in an attempt two locate two children who have been missing since Aug. 28, according to a news release.
It is alleged that Fernando Margarito, a resident of Glendale Heights, took control of his 2-year-old son, also named Fernando Margarito, during an authorized visitation. According to the release, it is believed that Margarito left the area intending to take his son and his son's aunt, 14-year-old Susana Rosales, to Mexico without consent.
Investigators confirmed that Margarito's vehicle crossed over into Mexico at 12:08 a.m. the morning of Aug. 30 after Margarito called his son's mother to disclose that they had travelled to Mexico. It is not known who was driving the vehicle at the time. It is described as a 2000 white Chevrolet Astro Van with Illinois registration S371196.
The Glendale Heights Police Department is currently working with Illinois State Police, Border Patrol, Mexican authorities and the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office to locate Margarito and the missing children, according to the release.
