Police target areas of high complaint, issue 41 citations
RIVERSIDE – On Aug. 19, the Riverside Police Department gave out 41 tickets in just a little over four hours.
Additionally, this was done at a resident’s request.
Areas targeted by the Riverside Police Department Intensified Enforcement Detail were selected due to recent complaints by residents.
In particular, residents complained about vehicles violating red lights on Harlem Avenue at East Quincy Street. Police responded by issuing 15 citations, 11 of which were for red light violations. One motorist was cited for failing to yield when they turned left in front of many oncoming cars, a news release said.
The detail also targeted the commuter parking lot to respond to complaints of drivers not stopping at stop signs. Police issued eight citations.
Finally, the detail enforced speed limit on Woodside Road where 18 more violations were issued.
With students back in school, the department announced the detail will begin to target violations around areas where students commute to and around schools. Many more details are scheduled between now and the end of the year, the department reported.
