Man strikes officer with handcuffs after bar fight

BROOKFIELD – Two men were charged after a bar fight in the 8900 block of Ogden Avenue around 7:47 p.m. Aug. 25.

William D. Burke II, 40, was charged with assault, battery and disorderly conduct after allegedly threatening a bartender and throwing a hockey stick at him. 

Robert J. Burke, 34, was charged with battery, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia after allegedly striking a police officer with the handcuffs the officer was trying to place on him following the fight. Burke resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody. 

Both men posted $1,500 bond and have a court date of Sept. 10 in Maybrook.
