D-181 offers monthly preschool screenings throughout school year

HINSDALE – Community Consolidated School District 181 will conduct monthly preschool screenings during the 2013-14 school year.

A screening is designed to identify any students who may need further evaluation and may be eligible for early childhood education and/or for speech and language services.

The purpose of the screening is related to special education and is for children who are 3, 4 or 5 years old and are experiencing difficulty in the following areas: cognitive development, speech and language skills, gross and fine motor skills and vision and hearing.

A preschool screening is not intended as a screening for kindergarten admission. Only District 181 residents are eligible to receive this preschool screening.

Preschool screenings will be held at Oak School, located at 950 South Oak St. in Hinsdale, and take about 30 minutes to complete.

Screening opportunities will be held on the following dates: Sept. 6 and 13, Oct. 4 and 25, Nov. 8 and 22, Dec. 13 and 20, Jan. 17 and 31, Feb. 14 and 28, March 14 and 28, April 25 and May 9 and 23.
