West End Art Festival features new twists

LA GRANGE – The annual West End Art Festival returns Sept. 14 and 15 and will feature artists from throughout the country. The event, presented by the La Grange Business Association, also includes demonstrations by local culinary specialists and performing artists, as well a number of hands-on activities.

The festival, which takes place in the shadow of the Stone Avenue train station along Burlington Avenue, will showcase the work of more than 50 jury-selected artists from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 14 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 15.

New this year are a Performing Arts Day Sept. 14 with live performances by local dance, theater and music groups. The Art of Food on Sept. 15, will feature demonstrations by chefs from prasino, Sushi House, Isn't That Sweet Bakery and other local spots. 

Artwork will be available to purchase in a variety of media including paintings, acrylics, oils, sculptures, woodwork, jewelry, photography, water colors and more. 

A variety of interactive children's art activities will be offered. Visitors can also contribute their talents to a community mural organized by Bottle and Bottega.

The festival kicks off with An Evening of Art & Jazz from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 13, which will include a cash bar and food from local restaurants.
