DOWNERS GROVE – The Downers Grove nonprofit human services agency formerly known as the Walk in Ministry of Hope announced the renaming of the organization to Hope's Front Door.

The organization helps the unemployed, underemployed, homeless, seniors and disabled.

It opened in 2000. The organization offers emergency help to those in need – for instance food or transportation – in addition to other assistance and resources such as budgeting help.

When the charity opened in 2000, it offered about $1,200 a month in assistance, according to a press release. Last year, it had grown to offer about $8,700 a month in assistance, helping more than 2,550 people.

Hope's Front Door is at 1047 Curtiss St.
