BERWYN – It's time to get your kicks on Route 66.
The 23rd annual Berwyn Route 66 Car Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7, on Berwyn's historic stretch of Route 66 on Ogden Avenue.
More than 500 vintage and custom cars, trucks and motorcycles will be on display. Demonstrations of automobile flamethrowing by Romin Chariots Car Club.
Cacklefest, by Tom Motry’s Drastic Plastic, featuring “rapid fire” vintage dragsters, will roar into action at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Motry’s dragster just set the “New Fuel Altered World Record” on Aug. 17 at the Route 66 Raceway.
The event, sponsored by Paisans Pizzeria and Bar, also features live music from the Crown Vics, who perform 1950’s birth of Rock ‘n’ Roll and R&B classics, and Wireless Soul, a youth rock band.
Legendary Radio Hall of Famer and WLS DJ Dick Biondi will be at the show from Noon to 4 p.m., signing autographs and handing out trophies.
Spectator admission is free.
For those seeking an early peek, vehicles start their procession to their parking spots around 7 a.m.

Registered participants receive a T-shirt, dash plaque and goodie bag with completed registration. “Fun” awards are also doled out in a wide variety of categories with names including “B-B-B-Bad to the Bone,” “Hog Heaven,” “Impressive Import,” “Hot Hauler,” “Pleasantly Preserved,” and “Slo & Lo” to name a few.
