Lombard synagog prepares for Days of Awe
LOMBARD – On Saturday night, members of Congregation Etz Chaim, 1710 S. Highland Ave. Lombard, will hold a special prayer service, along with a religious-based lecture, in anticipation of the Days of Awe.
The Days of Awe begin with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, on Sept. 5 and end 10 days later with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement on Sept. 14.
At 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Rabbi Steven Bob and Lynn Cohick, a professor at Wheaton College, will hold a presentation on sin and forgiveness in Judaism and Christianity. Following this lecture will be Selichot, a prayer service focused on penance.
