Hinsdale Police Department initiates back-to-school traffic enforcement

Published: Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 3:37 p.m. CDT

HINSDALE – The Hinsdale Police Department will be conducting special traffic enforcement initiative in school zones at various locations throughout the village beginning Sept. 7.

The purpose of this selective enforcement will be to increase driver awareness of cellphone prohibitions in school zones, school zone speed limits, stop sign obedience and other traffic and parking violations that inhibit the safety of pedestrians and other motorists, according to a news release from the Hinsdale Police Department.

Marked and unmarked patrol cars will be positioned within the areas to not only serve as a visible reminder, but to cite violators. Traffic violations such as passing stopped school buses, child safety seat violations and seat belt use, will also be addressed during this time.

There are also multiple construction projects in progress in Hinsdale that may affect motorist’s travel routes near schools. The police department reminds motorists to provide ample time to arrive at your destination safely, and to use caution in all construction areas for the safety of workers, pedestrians, motorists and all other roadway users.
