ELMHURST – A group of veterans will speak at Elmhurst College about their experiences as part of series of events geared toward veteran appreciation Wednesday.
“The Sacrifice of Veterans,” will feature a panel discussion given by veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the war in Afghanistan.
The college’s Niebuhr Center for Faith and Action will sponsor the event along with several other campus groups in an effort to educate students about the U.S. military’s role in society and how to support veterans when they return from war.
The event will include a performance by the Elmhurst College Jazz Band before the discussion. Candles also will be sold with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The Mission Continues, which awards community service fellowships to post-9/11 veterans.
The event is free and open to the public. The band performs at 6 p.m. and the discussion begins at 7 p.m. in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center, 190 Prospect Ave. For information, call 630-617-3492.
