VILLA PARK – Earlier this year, bocce ball and bags courts were installed in the park at the Iowa Community Center, 338 Iowa Ave., and now the Villa Park Parks and Recreation Department is offering leagues for teens to compete in both sports.

Bags will be played from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 4 to Oct. 15. Teams are guaranteed two matches per week and awards will be presented at the end.

Bocce ball will play from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 12 to Oct. 24 on Mondays, and teams will play six matches during the course of the season with awards being presented at the end.

The fee for both leagues is $61 for residents, and they are open to people between the ages of 13 and 17.

The Parks and Recreation Department will also hold a bocce ball workshop at 1 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Iowa Community Center for people to learn rules and how to play, along with game strategy. The cost for this program is $10 per person.
