Elmhurst police charge Tennessee man with burglary after chase

ELMHURST – A Memphis man is being held on $7,000 bond in DuPage County Jail after allegedly stealing a vehicle, Elmhurst police reported.

Charles Cooper, 61, of the 3600 block of Neely Road, Memphis, Tenn. was charged with felony burglary at 10:59 p.m. Aug. 22 in the 700 block of Industrial Drive. Another person who was in the car with Cooper ran from police and was not found.

Elmhurst police said officers chased the pair in the stolen vehicle, and they refused to pull over. Instead, the men drove off the roadway and down an embankment at I-290 and Lake Street and fled on foot.
