Local schools remain open despite heat; pools open this afternoon

LOMBARD – With temperatures forecasted to hit the high-90s Tuesday, it feels more like the dog days of summer than the first week of school. Several school districts in the Chicago area are scheduled to close early due to the heat, but local students will be spending today in the classroom instead of at the pool as schools remain open.

Lombard School District 44 schools, School District 45 schools, Glenbard East High School and Willowbrook High School are all scheduled to remain open Tuesday, according to their websites.

When schools let out this afternoon, Lombard and Villa Park residents can find some relief from the heat by hitting the local pools. Paradise Bay Water Park in Lombard will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. and Lufkin Pool in Villa Park will be open from 4 to 8 p.m.
