Downers Grove Park District seeks competitors for inaugural chili cook-off

DOWNERS GROVE – The Downers Grove Park District will host its inaugural home-style chili cook-off, the Chilympics, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 28 in Fishel Park, 1036 Grove St.

The event is sanctioned by the International Chili Society and the Downers Grove winner will advance to the World Finals in California in October to compete for a grand prize.

Participants and spectators can enjoy live music, beer and food vendors.

This contest is open to all ages.

Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners.

There will be a People’s Choice competition open to the public taking place at 2 p.m. The cost for People’s Choice is $5 for three tastings.

The cost to enter Chilympics is $55, which includes a $20 membership fee to ICS and a $35 Park District registration fee. Competitors must fill out all required applications online prior to September 13 at:
