LEMONT – The Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education will hold a special meeting to name a new board member before the Sept. 11 deadline to fill the vacancy.

George Rimbo, who took over as chief of the Lemont Fire Protection District, formally resigned from the board during its Aug. 19 meeting.

The board held a closed session meeting on Aug. 29 to discuss the open position.

Tony Hamilton, director of school and community relations for the district, said the meeting to name the new member has not been scheduled yet but the board member will be installed in time to take part in the Sept. 16 meeting.

Rimbo was elected to a second four year term in April. His replacement will serve a two year term, after which another two year term will be open for election in the spring of 2015.

State code dictates that the board has 45 days to fill a vacancy after it has been notified of the resignation.
