DOWNERS GROVE – A woman suspected of burglarizing a Downers Grove shed allegedly entered a Westmont resale shop with stolen items when police were in the store.

Police were investigating the reported burglary of a shed in the 300 block of 39th Street that allegedly occurred between 8 p.m. Aug. 19 and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 20. The alleged victim told police a self-propelled lawn mower, snow blower and garden tiller were taken from the shed.

Police located what they believed was the tiller at a resale shop in Westmont. The owner said he bought it from Kira K. Levan, 26, 241 41st St., Downers Grove.

After showing the alleged victim a photo of the tiller, a uniformed police officer returned to the store to tell the owner to hold the tiller. Levan then allegedly entered the store carrying a duffel bag with a chainsaw and an electric hedge trimmer.

The officer's fully-marked squad car was parked in front of the business. Levan was charged with possession of stolen property at 10:40 a.m. Friday.
