Letter: Hinsdale Humane Society celebrates 60 years

Published: Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 9:23 a.m. CST

To the Editor:

Last week, Hinsdale Humane Society celebrated a huge milestone – 60 years in the community. In honor of that big birthday, we wanted to celebrate with those who live in the area and support our efforts year round. On Aug. 24, we held a special Backyard Birthday Bash at the shelter and were overwhelmed with the show of support from the community. More than 300 people took time out of their Saturday afternoon to join us in celebrating. While there, they enjoyed dog games, free hot dogs and cupcakes, shelter tours and more. I would like to extend a huge thank you to all our staff and volunteers, including Hinsdale Rotary, who made this special day possible. As we reflect on our past, we’re excited to look toward the future.

I am always touched by the heart-warming stories of pets who have made a difference in a person's life. Tens of thousands of those stories have occurred over the past six decades. I know we’ll continue to make an impact on the people and animals who call this community home. Thank you for 60 years of support.
