Willowbrook's Johnson: Warriors hope to again put up points in 2013
VILLA PARK – Brian Johnson returns this fall as the starting quarterback for Willowbrook. A year ago, the senior helped lead the Warriors to their first playoff appearance since 2007.
Schmid: What do you take away from last year's success?
Johnson: Basically getting used to winning. Last year we had success and learning how to win from last year will carry over to this year. We want to stay on that path.
Schmid: Is the excitement level rising for the start of the 2013 season?
Johnson: We are really excited to play that first game. We started school a little earlier than usual so we have to wait a week for our first game. The excitement is building up even more. We are itching to get out there.
Schmid: How did the offseason go?
Johnson: It was good. We had guys in there, working hard and getting better. We want to carry that winning attitude into this year.
Schmid: What do you expect from your offense this fall?
Johnson: I expect it to be pretty similar to last year – quick paced and we should put up some points. We've got a couple of returners and also a group of guys who are going to prove themselves. They have been proving themselves through camp.
Schmid: With only one starter returning on the defense, what have you seen from that group?
Johnson: They have been coming together and getting that chemistry down, which is big on defense. That will be important, getting that defensive chemistry.
Schmid: What are a couple of keys to having another successful season?
Johnson: I think, especially during games, not turning the ball over and instead, controlling it. We need to keep scoring like last year because I'm pretty confident we can stop teams from scoring that many points.
Schmid: How important is it to get off to a strong start?
Johnson: That would be a great confidence builder for us and hopefully we could keep that going throughout the year.
