Summer is coming to an end, and I am happy to report that our Summer Reading Program ended on a great note with our Ice Cream Social on Aug. 5.

More than 1,600 patrons came to our library for fun, food and, of course, ice cream. Congratulations to all of our Summer Reading participants on their reading success this summer!

Have you been thinking about an eReader but haven’t taken the plunge?

We now have Nooks available for checkout, loaded with best-sellers and other popular titles. Nooks are available for checkout from Children’s Services, Adult Services, Teen Services and our Bookmobile.

You can see what titles are on our Nooks by visiting our website at fountaindale.org and typing “fountaindale nook” in the search box on the upper right of our homepage.

Perhaps you are in the mood for a good program? Well we have you covered in September. On Sept. 13, we have “Friday Movie Matinee: It’s Friday the 13th!”

Come join us for a chilling horror film and fresh popcorn. If you are in the mood for music, we will have VOX3 Collective here Sept. 22. We are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with music from Mexico, Ecuador, Argentina and Cuba.

On Sept. 22, will offer “Take Better Photos and Videos.”  Space is limited, so please be sure to sign up in advance.

Nahid Sewell, a local author, will discuss her book “The Ruby Tear Catcher” on Sept. 25. Nahid writes about her childhood and the beautiful country she calls home in her novel. Join us for what is sure to be a great evening.

At end of the month (Sept. 29), we will have “The Magic Carpet:  Songs and Stories from Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt.”  Take a magic carpet ride to ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt in story and song in an engaging interactive performance. Replica artifacts, early musical instruments, and period costumes enhance these lively performances. Registration is required, so be sure to sign up early.

You can find all of these programs and more online at fountaindale.org.
