LEMONT – Lemont resident Anwar Dihan, 42, faces multiple charges after allegedly transporting 240 cartons of Missouri tax stamp cigarettes, according to police reports.

He was charged with possession of contraband cigarettes and transportation of cigarettes, police said.

Dihan was traveling north on I-55 near the Des Plaines River bridge in Will County when he was pulled over for speeding in a construction zone, said Illinois State Police Special Agent Jorge Fonseca.

After Dihan agreed to a vehicle search, the officer found cigarettes, as well as hundreds of containers of baby formula, Fonseca said. Police are still investigating the origin of the formula, which had no proof of purchase.

Fonseca said Dihan also allowed police to search a storage facility in Bridgeview that contained another 130 packs of cigarettes and more than $12,000.

According to the Will County Sheriff's website, Dihan has been released on $10,000 bond.
