Cops: Chicago man charged with aggravated assualt in Bolingbrook

BOLINGBROOK – A Chicago man was charged with domestic battery, aggravated assault and unlawful restraint Tuesday night in the 500 block of Monroe Road, according to the Bolingbrook Police Department.

About 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, Anthony J. Owens, 27, of Chicago, was watching a movie with a woman at a residence in the 500 block of Monroe, according to police.

The two had been dating for one month, and when the woman tried move from the bedroom to retrieve her phone, Owens allegedly attempted to take off her clothes, police said. After she told him to stop, Owens grabbed her from behind, causing her to scream, according to police.

Owens let her go, then proceeded to retrieve a handgun from a box and point it at her, ordering the victim to leave the residence and threatening to shoot her if she did not obey, according to Bolingbrook Police Lt. Mike Rompa.

The victim fled the area and called police, Rompa said.

Bolingbrook police officers located the victim, returned to the scene and took Owens into custody. He was processed and subsequently transported to Will County Adult Detention Facility.
