York High School remembers alumni, wake today for Noe Gomez

Noe Gomez, a 2013 York graduate, died this week in a car crash on his way home from a family wedding.

ELMHURST – York High School will dedicate a moment of silence to two students today.

Noe Gomez, a 2013 York graduate, died in a car crash near Galena on Monday. He was returning to Elmhurst after attending a family wedding.

The track runner was always the first to help organize track meets and practices. He planned to attend College of DuPage and Northern Illinois University.

Students and staff will also aknowledge Dan Connell, a York father, who died last week. Dan Connell, 48, was a life-long resident of Elmhurst and an active community member.

A celebration of Noe E. Gomez' life will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Hursen Funeral Home, 4001 Roosevelt Road, Hillside. His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Simeon, 430 Bohland Ave., Bellwood, with a burial service to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside.
