Stop Bullying Rally, 5K run/walk at Bolingbrook High School planned for Oct. 19

BOLINGBROOK – The Bolingbrook High School PTA is embarking on a campaign to help address one of biggest problems schools across the country face: bullying.

The PTA, which was just formed a year ago, is planning a “Stop Bullying Rally” along with a “Stand UP Speak OUT” 5K on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Bolingbrook High School.

“The Bolingbrook High School PTA was established to provide educational enhancement opportunities for our students, a goal we hope to obtain by working closely with the school, parents and community,” PTA spokesperson Colleen Douty said. “Studies show when this partnership between school, family and community exists, children have more opportunities for meaningful, engaged learning. When students learn, communities thrive.”

The Stop Bullying Rally, which will precede the 5K, will include speakers and information on how communities can work together to help reduce bullying.

Bolingbrook organizations are being encouraged to enter as a team, decorate shirts, bring posters, etc. All teams will be recognized at the event.

On-line registration for the 5K run/walk is available at:

Volunteers are need for the event; interested parties should Contact Robin Lichty at:
