Count Basie Orchestra comes to Berwyn Labor Day weekend

BERWYN – Take out the tails and top hat; some real swing is coming to town Labor Day weekend.

The legendary Count Basie Orchestra will take the stage for two shows this weekend, first at 8:30 p.m. Saturday and again 7 p.m. Sunday, at FitzGerald’s, 6615 W. Roosevelt Road, Berwyn.

The renowned group of players features drummer Butch Miles, who has played with a long list of performers, including Frank Sinatra. Carmen Bradford is the featured vocalist. Doug Miller is the orchestra director.

William Count Basie started the Count Basie Orchestra in 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri. Within a year, America was listening in on the show via popular radio shows throughout the country.
