WESTERN SPRINGS – Western Springs firefighters will be at local businesses Friday and Saturday collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which funds research for the cure of a number of muscle diseases.

The "Fill the Boot" fundraiser dates back to 1954. The Western Springs Fire Department said donations will stay local and will help area residents who are suffering from muscle diseases.

Firefighters will also be stationed at the Wolf Road railroad crossing to collect donations.
