WEST CHICAGO – The West Chicago City Museum and People Made Visible, Inc., will welcome international artist in residence Irene Pérez to the city from Aug. 25 through Sept. 12.

During her visit, Pérez will speak with residents for her project, "Setting Up House – West Chicago," about how they see their homes and the stories and memories they associate with the places they call home.

She will incorporate the oral histories she gathers into textiles she will create. The pieces will be displayed at the City Museum through Sept. 28.

The exhibit also will include histories of West Chicago homes.

As part of Late Night at the City Museum, an artist's reception will be held for
Pérez from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 6.

To learn more or inquire about being interviewed for the project, contact Sara Phalen at sphalen@westchicago.org or 630-231-3376.

For more information about Pérez or her work, visit her website at www.ireneperez.net.

The West Chicago Artist-in-Residency Program has brought artists to the city for social art projects since 2008.
