BROOKFIELD – The Brookfield Police Department reported that they were temporarily without power Tuesday morning after a semi truck caught a telephone wire and brought down a utility pole in the 3600 block of Woodside Avenue at 7:30 a.m.
Brookfield police were without power for about an hour. Police said 911 calls were routed to the La Grange Park Police Department temporarily. All services have been restored.
According to Brookfield police, the driver of the truck was traveling down Burlington Avenue to ward Woodside Avenue when wires from the utility pole caught on the truck and snapped the pole into two pieces.
Police said part of the utility pole fell on and damaged a parked car in the area.
Police said the driver of the truck was traveling through an area where truck traffic is prohibited. The driver was cited for disobeying a traffic control device or sign.
About 185 ComEd customers were without power after the pole was struck, according to a ComEd spokeswoman. Power was restored to all residents by 9:45 a.m.
