GLEN ELLYN – Although Miss Illinois' Outstanding Teen 2013 Isabelle "Izzy" Hanson of Glen Ellyn didn't win the ultimate crown at the Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant this month, she didn't go away empty-handed.

Hanson was awarded one of the competition's Instrumental Talent Award scholarships.

"The competition experience was an amazing week for Izzy," Izzy's mom, Terry, said in an email.

On Sept. 10, Hanson will head to Atlantic City for the Miss America 2014 competition. She will be there to support Miss Illinois 2013, Brittany Smith of Elmhurst, as she vies for the Miss America crown.
