Application deadline is Sunday for Citizen's Police Academy

OAK BROOK – The deadline to participate in the final Oak Brook Police Department's Citizen's Police Academy for the 2013 calendar year is approaching.

This community oriented policing program allows members of residential and business communities an opportunity to gain a working knowledge of practices, policies and procedures of the Oak Brook Police Department.

Some topics of instruction include support services and community programs, Illinois vehicle code, DUI, criminal law, case law, evidence collection, SWAT, defensive tactics and traffic stops. There is no cost to participate in this program.

Enrollment is limited and applicants who live or work in Oak Brook will receive preference.

The deadline to submit an application is Sunday. Classes begin Aug. 28 and meet from 6:30 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday at the Oak Brook Police Department for 10 weeks.
