ELMHURST – The Elmhurst Police Department is accepting applications for the Citizen's Police Academy.

The 12-week program began in 2000 and is designed to give citizens a working knowledge of law enforcement. Each week participants will get an in-depth view of how a particular division of the department functions through education and hands-on training.

The program is free and limited to 25 students. Classes are every Wednesday for 12 weeks beginning Sept. 11. Each class is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the police department training room, 125 E. First Street.
