Cicero police searching for missing teen

CICERO - Cicero police are looking for a missing teen last seen Aug. 17. The teenager is suspected of running away from home with her boyfriend.

Mayte Romero, who is in her early teens, left her residence in the 3600 block of South 58th Avenue wearing purple blouse, blue jeans and carrying a blue bag. Romero is about 5 feet tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds.

The girl had been given permission by her mother to walk her dog, a brown and white pit-bull, but did not return home.

The girl's mother told police that she and her daughter had an argument Aug. 13, because she saw the girl packing a bag of clothing and was planning on running away. The girl's mother said she did not leave and appeared normal on the following days.

The mother told police her daughter may be in the company of her boyfriend.
