Westchester hires new police chief

WESTCHESTER – John M. Carpino has been named the village's new police chief.

Carpino, of Willow Springs, will be sworn in Aug. 27 and will assume duties Sept. 1. He has 40 years of law enforcement experience and has been chief in Willow Springs, Worth and Oak Brook. 

Most recently, Carpino was village manager in Oakbrook Terrace. He also serves on the Criminal Justice Advisory Board at Northwestern University.
