DARIEN – St. John Lutheran Church located at 7214 South Cass Ave. in Darien will once again sponsor a community outreach booth at "DarienFest" from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 7.

The event will take place at Darien Community Park located at 71st Street and Clarendon Hills Road.

This year St. John will highlight its K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry. Comfort dog Shami will be present along with other Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) K-9 comfort dogs who traveled to Sandy Hook and Boston for disaster response.

Visitors will be able to interact with the canines and talk with the dogs’ handlers. Photos of the dogs’ service in their local communities and throughout the country will be on display. The first 500 families who stop by the booth will be given a free photo magnet of Shami.
