Lemont native David Molk took to the Soldier Field turf Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, when the San Diego Chargers played the Chicago Bears in an NFL preseason game.

CHICAGO – David Molk had a homecoming of sorts Thursday night.

The Lemont High School and University of Michigan alumnus was back in Lemont over the summer to work out and coach at Lemont's youth camp prior to the start of training camp with the San Diego Chargers. Molk was back in Chicago on Thursday night as the Chargers faced the Chicago Bears in an NFL preseason game.

Now in his second year with the Chargers, the 6-foot-1, 300-pound offensive lineman saw extensive playing time in the second half of the game and helped San Diego mount a comeback from a 14-0 deficit before falling 33-28.

Molk is listed as the No. 2 center on the depth chart. The Chargers have two more preseason games left at Arizona on Aug. 24 and against visiting San Francisco on Aug. 29 before they open the regular season against Houston on Sept. 9.
