Lombard police increasing DUI enforcement through Labor Day
LOMBARD – Beginning Saturday and continuing through the Labor Day holiday, the Lombard Police Department will be running a Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign to reduce the number of impaired drivers on the road. Police will also be enforcing seat belt usage.
The Lombard Police Department will have a roadside safety checkpoint at an undisclosed location Aug. 31 to check for impaired drivers.
The costs of this enforcement crackdown is covered by federal traffic safety funds from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Lombard's deputy chief Tom Wirsing said officers will be specifically looking for drunk drivers and arresting anyone found driving drunk.
