HINSDALE – Thanks to a new CREATION Health grant, the Adventist Midwest Health hospitals are growing programs to educate and assist mothers who choose to breastfeed.
The first phase of the grant program involves development of a digital app to provide helpful information about breastfeeding, said Sara Rosenbaum, regional obstetrical educator with Adventist Midwest Health, in a news release.
The next phase of the grant program includes opening a breastfeeding boutique and clinic on the grounds at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital.
The boutique will be connected to the clinic, Rosenbaum said, which will house two exam rooms where breastfeeding moms can get help from lactation consultants and have any questions answered. The clinic will be open to anyone in the west suburban area.
When the clinic opens, people who have the digital app will be able to make clinic appointments through it. Rosenbaum said the grant will also help make sure lactation consultants are available to hospital patients whenever they are needed.
The breastfeeding app is currently under development, Rosenbaum said, and work on the clinic could begin later this year, according to the release.
