ELMHURST – A York High School senior learned this summer that he earned a perfect score on the ACT.
Andrew Miranti, an Emerson and Churchville alumnus, joined an elite group of less than 0.1 percent of students who earn a perfect composite score of 36 on the national test.
The ACT is comprised of English, mathematics, reading and science sections. Each is scored on a scale of 1 to 36 then averaged together to produce a student's composite score. An optional writing test is also offered as part of the ACT, but is not included in the composite score.
ACT scores are one of many criteria colleges consider for admission.
