WESTERN SPRINGS – The former site of Vaughan's Garden Center could soon host a new day care center.

Bright Horizons Child Care presented plans for a new location at 4700 Commonwealth Ave. to the village's Planning and Zoning Committee last week. Trustee Ed Tymick said the company's presentation was received favorably by the village and that it has already completed 90 percent of the groundwork.

The company will present to the Plan Commission in August, and the next step would be gaining approval from the Board of Trustees.

Bright Horizons has child care locations in the U.S., United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Tymick said the company has a thorough business plan for the potential Western Springs location, which would target business from medical personnel at Hinsdale Hospital and La Grange Memorial Hospital.

The company hopes to complete renovations to the old Vaughan's building by May 2014 in order to open by fall 2014, Tymick said. Renovations would include the installment of a kitchen and classrooms.
