HINSDALE – The Hinsdale Village Board unanimously approved the contract and welcomed in a new village manager Tuesday.

Kathleen Gargano will now come to Hinsdale after spending 16 years working for the village of Wilmette, currently as the assistant village manager.

“The trustees spent a lot of time over the past months searching for a new village manager,” said Village President Tom Cauley. “We received 125 applications for the job and we interviewed 17 candidates all of whom were well qualified.”

In Gargano's previous position, she was responsible for interacting with the village board, developing the village’s $60 million budget, handling human resources and risk management issues and assisting with economic development.

Gargano thanked the village board Tuesday especially after the intense competition.

“I look forward to joining the staff here and being part of your team and being part of the community,” Gargano said.
