LA GRANGE – The District 106 Educational Foundation will host its 10th annual Highlands 5K Run to Fund Aug. 31 at Highlands Elementary School.

The event includes a 5K and 1-mile run/walk, with electronic timing for both. Trophies will be awarded to the male and female winners of each race, and medals will be given to first through third-place finishers in all other categories.

Proceeds from the race will assist in enhancing the quality of education for students and expand learning opportunities, the foundation said in a release.

The foundation will award an ice cream party to a middle school and elementary class that has the most participants.

Families can adopt a block along the race route and have a sign featuring their name. Corporate partnerships are also available. Contact Donna Yelnick at donna@yelnickconstruction.com for all sponsorship opportunities.

Before Aug. 24, registration is $30 for the 5K and $15 for the 1-mile race. After Aug. 24, each fee increases by $5. To register, go to www.district106-educationalfoundation.com.
