VILLA PARK – Rep. Deb Conroy’s, D-Villa Park, bill to revitalize the state’s civic education program was signed into law Friday by the governor, creating a path for civics education to be taught again in the state of Illinois.

Civic education is not currently a required part of the curriculum in Illinois schools. House Bill 2428 creates a bipartisan volunteer task force to study and make recommendations for a statewide civics education curriculum.

The task force will be comprised of legislators, educators, administrators and community leaders from across the state.

For more information, contact Conroy’s constituent services office at 630-415-3520 or email RepDebConroy@gmail.com.
