BARTLETT – DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Bartlett Police Chief Kent Williams announced Friday that an adult male has been charged in connection with the drug overdose death of a 15-year-old boy, John Dudek, on July 10.

Nolan McMahon, 18, of Hanover Park has been charged with drug induced homicide, according to police.

It is alleged that on the evening of July 9 and into the early morning hours of July 10, Dudek, along with another teenage boy, went to McMahon's residence and purchased multiple bags of heroin on two occasions. Dudek then returned home and ingested the heroin, police said.

On the afternoon of July 10, paramedics were called to Dudek's home where they found him unresponsive. He was declared deceased on the scene. A subsequent autopsy was performed and the cause of death was determined to be a heroin overdose.

A subsequent investigation by Bartlett police determined that Dudek had purchased the heroin from McMahon shortly prior to his death, according to police. A search warrant was executed on McMahon's residence and disclosed additional heroin inside the home, police said.
