Hinsdale welcomes new village manager

HINSDALE – Kathleen Gargano has accepted the position of village manager for the village of Hinsdale, the Board of Trustees announced Aug. 6 in a village news release.

Gargano will be responsible for managing and directing the overall operations of the village and for administering the policies set by the Village Board of Trustees.

Gargano comes to the village with more than 16 years of experience working for the village of Wilmette, where she served in positions of increasing responsibility, currently working as the assistant village manager.

In her previous position, she was responsible for interacting with the village board, developing the village’s $60 million budget, handling human resources and risk management issues and assisting with economic development.

Gargano holds a master’s degree in public administration from Northern Illinois University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Northern Illinois University.

The village hired the executive search firm of Voorhees and Associates to find the next village manager. More than 125 applications were received and 17 candidates were interviewed.

Gargano's expected start date is Sept. 9.
