Local soccer players contribute to Team Chicago's national club title
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The 18U Team Chicago Botafogo girls soccer team won the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship at the Overland Park Soccer Complex on Sunday, July 28.
Recent local high school graduates Bryce Banuelos (York), Dana Miller (Wheaton Warrenville South) and Danielle Pitaro (Glenbard South) and junior to be Alexis Jakuszewski (Wheaton Warrenville South) were part of the star-studded 19-player roster made up of Chicago area standouts.
Team Chicago beat Virginia Soccer Association Heat Blue 2-1 in overtime in the final. Naperville North graduate Zoe Swift, who starred on the Huskies' two state championship teams, scored both goals for Team Chicago in the win.
